Centre for Innovative Financial Design
To create a research and resource centre focused on developing conceptual advances on behavioral aspects of low income households and to implement a project on credit scoring.The centre is currently implementing a set of projects, including a project on credit scoring for rural finance. The projects have provided multiple conceptual insights. CIFD has also launched a Product Development Silo and four projects are being piloted and developed to be scaled.
Centre for Insurance and Risk Management
To develop scalable solutions for insurance and risk management for the under-served, and to train and educate practitioners of micro-insurance on various insurance products. CIRM has implemented a range of projects: (i) livestock insurance, (ii) low cost weather insurance for small and marginal farmers by addressing pricing issues in micro climates and (iii) a comprehensive health financing system. Training programmes offered: (i) micro-insurance pricing training (with Wharton School) and (ii) online course on ‘Innovative market-based risk management framework’.
Centre for Micro Finance
Core funding for overall management of CMF and incubation of new projects. CMF has organised conferences with College of Agriculture Banking of RBI and UNDP, as well as training programs/workshops for interns and practitioners of microfinance. CMF is also taking up research projects as recommended by IFF.
Centre for Advanced Financial Studies
For creation of a web portal for banks, including training, development of a portfolio allocation model that takes into account uncertainties in human capital and lifecycle financial services needs.
Aajeevika Bureau
To develop financial services solutions for rural migrants, and to undertake policy advocacy on the same.
Center for Global Development
Towards funding the project “Policy Innovations to Improve Access to Financial Services in Developing Countries during and beyond the Economic Crisis”. The Center for Global Development Report on ‘Principles for Expanding Financial Access’ is published. IFMR Finance Foundation and Centre for Micro Finance are working together to develop a country case study on India for the next stage of research and advocacy.
